The Great Series Summit 2018. Trends and Tendencies in Fictional Entertainment

Made in Germany! A seal of approval, which can now also be applied to German TV-exports. It seems as though TV-series from Germany have managed to catch up with international standards as German high-end drama can now also be found on international TV-screens and streaming platforms. This fact opens new doors when it comes to (re-) financing large-scale projects, that were previously impossible to finance out of Germany alone. But is this a development that is made to last or are we merely experiencing a trend? Can German drama-series stay competitive on the international stage? And what is needed to guarantee long-term success for these productions? With these questions in mind, we will be taking a closer look at highlights of the German and international series market during this year’s edition of the Great Series-Summit and we aim to find out what good serial storytelling is all about and how to put this knowledge best into use.

Wednesday, 10.00 – 17.30 hrs • Summiteers. Future Professionals at the Great Series-Summit 2018

“Summiteers”, a day for future professionals among students and post-graduates, is dedicated to answer these questions of aspiring screenwriters in the form of masterclasses and workshop discussions focusing on the German series market and the possibilities for German-speaking talent.
